Hello:
We are currently in Phase 1B of the vaccine ‘roll out’ in Texas and this includes not only Phase 1A individuals (mainly healthcare workers and clients of nursing facilities), but all individuals over the age of 65 and persons age 16 and older with certain conditions (like heart disease or diabetes) making them more likely to have a severe case if infected with COVID-19.
I recommend that all persons take advantage of the opportunity to vaccinate against COVID-19 with whichever vaccine becomes available to them soonest.
I am currently waiting for approval as a vaccine provider with the state of Texas and this does not guarantee that I will receive an allocation of vaccine.
Therefore, here are suggestions on how to look for COVID19 vaccine opportunities to be vaccinated based on phased rollout:
a) If you doctor or specialist is associated with a hospital group such as Memorial Hermann or Houston Methodist, check your email regularly for invitatons to registar and schedule vaccination through the hospital.
b) Look up the phone numbers for COVID vaccine scheduling with the Houston and the Harris County health departments and try calling these each morning to see if you can schedule your first dose of the vaccine.
c) Additionally, try registering online with Nextlevel Urgent Care for notices on vaccine availability and scheduling.
d) Also, register online with your pharmacy and HEB and Randall’s pharmacies for similar notifications and chance to schedule a dose.
Finally, if you find another way to obtain the COVID19 vaccine (that is legal), please call my office to let us know so that we may pass this information on to others…and thank you.
Regards,
Dr. Hayes
